Weekend ReCUP!

Happy Sunday!

I had a GREAT weekend, and I hope you did too! This weekend was one of those where you just feel very fortunate for all that you have and for those that surround you.

There’s lot to catch up on, so let’s get to the ReCUP…

Friday

I was in Ocala all day for work, and left there a little later than I had hoped for, so by time I made it to the (Gasparilla) expo, I had like 10 minutes to browse. Luckily, Mandy was nice enough to pick up my bib and goodies!

I had a very important date, and was not going to be late. Meb and Shalane were in town for the race festivities, and were the guests of honor for a dinner benefitting Moffitt Cancer Center.

It was such an incredible experience getting to meet both of them. They are both super nice and down to earth.

As we were standing in line to get Meb’s autograph, I look over and it’s Mr. Bart Yasso! As if I wasn’t already starstruck enough…

Bart and I go way back… to November 2015 when I did his shakeout run and he commented on my Instagram photo. 😉

The dinner itself was quite tasty, and I was in great company, so it made for a pretty remarkable evening.

Saturday

I slept in a bit and then headed over to my parents house to say hi to Smokey and to get in a shakeout run. I opted for 3 miles; I got a bit of a late start, so it was a warmer part of the day. As soon as I got back, I dipped my legs in the nice and cool pool.

I relaxed as much as I could, before our Spaghetti Warehouse dinner reservation. It was an awesome dinner with some great running buddies. The Boy and I split the ultimate feast for two. I always enjoy that option!

Back home, I got Flat Amanda all prepped and ready to go before doing a last minute foam roll session.

Sunday

For not being a Disney race, I felt the race had a very early start time (6:00), but at this time of year the weather can be unpredictable.

I’ll do a full race recap later in the week, but I will say that the corrals were nowhere near as congested as the Gasparilla 5k I did last year.

Going into the race I had a few goals in mind. 1) To have fun and finish with a smile, 2) to run a 2:20, 3) to run a 2:30.

I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself time-wise. Not yet at least. But, I wanted a 2:20, would have been happy with a 2:30, and really needed it to be under 2:45.

It was a great race, and I felt strong throughout the duration of it.

Photo Feb 21, 8 30 57 AM

I finished in 2:26 and could not be more happy with it!

Photo Feb 21, 8 54 36 AM

As soon as I finished though my belly started to hurt and cramp up. And, it stayed like that for a few hours. I tried eating breakfast, but it wasn’t the easiest thing to do.

Photo Feb 21, 10 26 03 AM

I felt a bit better after I napped, but I couldn’t seem to get comfy. I actually feel like I am more sore after this race than I was my last (full) marathon. Crazy how that works out!

The Gasparilla Half got me to 200 miles for the year.

The Boy and I went out for dinner to celebrate my Beastmode-ness. Smokey Bones nachos, pulled pork sandwich, and warm donuts. I’ll resume all nutrition tomorrow. 😉

With a 3:30 AM wake-up call, I’m pooped and am off to bed. Have a great night!

Question of the day

What was the high and low of your weekend?

Weekend ReCUP!

Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone had a nice long holiday weekend! I know I sure did!

We have lots to catch up on, so let’s get to the ReCUP…

Christmas

My friend Kimmie gifted me this AWESOME Route 66 tin to commemorate my marathon. It’s awesome and will hold my medal perfectly!

We spent Christmas-day at my parents house. Since we had a big dinner to make, we took the easy route for breakfast. Cinnamon rolls! I can’t remember the last time I had cinnamon rolls. So good!

For dinner, I was in charge of the corn casserole. Mostly because it’s my speciality. By now most of you know the kitchen and cooking/baking completely stresses me out; corn casserole is one dish I can always count on to NOT mess up. I have included my recipe here for you:

Ingredients

  • 1/2 stick of butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 (8.5 ounce) package Jiffy corn bread mix
  • 1 (15 ounce) can whole kernel corn, drained
  • 1 (14.75 ounce) can creamed corn
  • 1 cup sour cream

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl
  2. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes

My dad is the coolest, and told my mom this year that he wanted to get us kids (my brother, sister, and myself) a toy for Christmas. I got a little Gravedigger remote controlled truck. How awesome is that?! Gravedigger has been my FAVORITE since I was like 5 years old.

I must have been a good girl this year because Santa treated me very well! I’m such a run nerd and was sooo stoked to unwrap this…

Christmas dessert = pumpkin cream pie from Yoder’s. Yes please!

Saturday

My Saturday came and went in the blink of an eye. I failed as a blogger and took zero pictures from my Saturday, but in a nutshell…

Starbucks, errands, leg day at the gym, a fight with my microwave, a way-too-long nap, and Crazy Cafe with the family.

Sunday

Miss Boo (who has been crushing it this week attending both Wednesday and Thursday night training runs) agreed to accompany the gang and I for our weekend long run. We (the girls) had 9 miles on the schedule (Don had 12); I felt pretty confident that Miss Boo could hang with us for 6 miles but wasn’t sure about 9, so I loaded my bike into my dad’s truck and brought that out to Flatwoods so that Miss Boo could just ride if/when she got tired of running.

I think I’m gonna have to change her name to “Miss Beast” because she hung with us the entire 9 miles.

This was my first time running at Flatwoods. It’s a beautiful park and offers a fair amount of shade.

Photo Dec 27, 7 32 50 AM

Miss Boo really wanted to visit The Temple while in town and since she leaves Saturday, today was the only day (the market is only open on Sundays). After finishing our run, we rushed back to my parents house, got ready, and headed over.

It was pretty busy, and the lines for the most popular items were not fun, but we got everything we wanted to taste.

Photo Dec 27, 7 48 48 PM

Mom and Boo (neither of which had ever been) really enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the temple.

And, now for some randomness from my Sunday…

Smokey pup  went to the groomers today! So fresh and so clean!

This was interesting to see walk past our back porch…

And, I put my Fit2Run gift cards to good use… So excited for these!

Have a great rest of your Sunday night!

Question of the day

What was the high and low of your weekend?

Mid-ish week update in PICS

Good morning and happy Thursday!

Great, great, great day yesterday!

I finally wrapped up a big work project that had been wracking my brain for the last two weeks.

And, the rest of my day included…
Salad! Salad just never gets old. I mean literally it does, but you know what I’m saying…

A hardworking pooch. It’s a tough job being a puppy!

I made it on the board! Granted, everyone does, but it was just so exciting to see…

Fun Run at Fit2Run!

Kayla even came out (pictured here with Nancy)! She brought her two young boys and husband, and they all had so much fun they want to make it a weekly thing! Yay!!

On a side note, I did the full 5k and finally feel like I’m starting to get back to normal. I definitely need to foam roll more, but I was pleased with my performance.

On the way home, this car had me questioning, “seriously?!” 😉

My day also consisted of an exciting trip to both Target and Kohl’s. So exciting, I snapped zero pics! 😉

Question of the day

What did your Wednesday run consist of?
