Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday!

I have been enjoying a great weekend over here, and hope that yours has been just as good! My weekend has been active and relaxing all at the same time, and I love that!

It’s been a couple days, so let’s get to the recap…

Friday

Friday was a great end to the work week. It was national Donut Day and I definitely got in my fair share of donuts. Looking back it may have been overkill, but those sprinkles are hard to turn down. 😉

Happy Donut Day!

I received a special delivery at the office! My parents are so sweet and sent me a little show of appreciation for all the time I’ve spent helping out mom these past couple weeks. This was completely unexpected and so not necessary; for all they have ever done for me, I have been happy to help out.

Pretty and pink!

It was “Friday Night Date Night” so for dinner, the Boy and I went to Smokey Bones.

Somebody is excited for date night

I enjoyed an incredibly yummy grilled chicken salad. Lately restaurant salads have not been doing it for me, but this one was GOOD.

Grilled chicken salad with goat cheese, pecans, and cranberries. YUM!

We then went over to Barnes & Noble and spent some time browsing the shelves.

Saturday

We slept in Saturday morning, and did not get up until close to 11:30. The Boy made us pancakes for breakfast and then I spent the next few hours being lazy and catching up on blog reading and research.

The rain forced me to bring my run inside. But, by time we got to the gym I was just not feeling it. I was in a funky mood and just not feeling the idea of running. I still wanted to try though. It was tough at first- I mean I was at like 1.78 miles and wanting to stop- I kept going and just pushed through the funk and was able to get in a good 5 miles. I hadn’t had much of any water leading up to the run, so I think that definitely played into my lackluster performance.

Luckily I had a good read because my face screams GRUMPY!
5 miles DONE!

If you are having trouble getting used to treadmill running, I HIGHLY suggest you find a treadmill where you can place a book/iPad/Kindle/Nook/phone at eye level and get an Oyster account. It will help your treadmill miles fly by! Lately I have been reading Run by Dean Karnazes and absolutely love it! If that man continues to write books for as long as I live, I will die a very happy girl! 🙂

After the gym, we picked up pizza and salad and headed to my parents house for dinner.

After spending some time chatting with mom and dad, we made our way home and did some reading before watching an episode of Dr. Who.

We both just started watching Dr. Who, and are really enjoying it. Me a little bit more so than the Boy- which is surprising. It’s silly and far-fetched, but the storyline is rather intriguing.

Sunday

I had planned to wake up early to lay out, but my bed was just so cozy. I got up around 10:30, ate breakfast, and quickly got ready. I had a noon shopping date on the horizon! Michelle (from work) and I had a Tampa shopping day planned. We started at Westshore Plaza, and eventually made our way to International Plaza where we had lunch at Brio.

The stores were having some pretty good sales, and I got a bunch of tank tops and t-shirts, a dress for work, and the cutest pair of running shorts. We definitely shopped until we dropped!

Shopping finds!

The Boy and I grabbed a bite to eat before going to Publix so I could secure Salad Pool fixins for the week ahead. We spent the remainder of our night preparing for the work week and just relaxing.

Question of the day

How was your weekend?

Weekend Recap

Happy Sunday!

This weekend has been super fun!

Friday

We had a Friday Night Date Night and went to Mellow Mushroom. I had a small greek salad and their delicious gourmet white pizza.

After dinner, we popped into Movie Stop next door. It had been awhile since either one of us had been there, and the entire store had been revamped. One whole side of the store was merchandise. For nerds like us, it was awesome!

Saturday

Saturday morning, I met up with Max and her dog Rayla for some running and fetch at Gadsden Park.

After I got home, I whipped up my second smoothie fail in 2 days. Yeah, that was fun! 😦 This one though, I think can be blamed on my NutriBullet. It’s been acting weird and sticking a bit.

Saturday afternoon was a lot of fun. My mom and I headed downtown to RiverFest at the Riverwalk. It was a huge two-day event with different things going on all over. At one end of the Riverwalk was a carnival, the other end had live music (and when we were there) a mac & cheese cookoff, and throughout the Riverwalk were different vendors setup.

LOVE the view!

Downtown was a lot busier than I was expecting when we arrived, and the garage I wanted to park in was closed. I picked the next garage over, and it wasn’t until I was entering the garage and was unable to turn around, that I realized it was a flat fee of 20 bucks to park there. Ugh!

Note: there are two things I really dislike paying for. Shipping and parking. 😉

We sampled mac and cheese, and then did some awesome people-watching.

After the Boy got off work, he and I headed to dinner with my parents. My mom picked Ruby Tuesday’s. I really love their salad bar!

Sunday

I woke up early this morning because Mr. Chris and I had a running date planned. We went downtown and got in 3.47 miles. It felt great and the weather was perfect.

I met the Boy at the gym afterwards and got in 45 minutes of core-work. I’ll definitely be feeling that tomorrow! 😉 After running a few errands, we made our way back home to relax and watch some TV.

Some randomness from this weekend…

Lately, I have been loving KIND bars, and this flavor was super tasty!

I somehow gotten eaten by mosquitoes this week without knowing it. This is just 3 of 7 bites, and… I’m pretty sure I was wearing jeans when this happened.

Starbucks started their Frappuccino happy hour. Everyday from 3-5 they are half off!

This Clif Bar flavor is very yummy!

Penney’s had a good sale this weekend, AND even better I had a coupon. I got these bad boys for $4! Score!

If anyone ever asks, the key to my heart can be found in a bottle of classic root beer.

I got a glimpse of the Route 66 Marathon medal, and I think it looks AWESOME!

Question of the day

What did you do this weekend?

Sunday’s are for being lazy and Monday night date night

Good morning and happy Tuesday!

I’m a little excited over here this morning! I gave myself a small goal over the weekend in regards to my blog, and without even having a chance to devise a plan to achieve the goal, well… I achieved it. So thank you to all that contributed! 🙂

When we last left off, I shared my big plans for a productive Sunday. So… that didn’t happen! I spent my entire Sunday researching and watching Friends and Breaking Bad. It was a glorious day!

For a late Sunday dinner, I whipped up a tasty smoothie; a smoothie so tasty that I forgot to take a picture of it.

Oh Honey Smoothie

What you’ll need
1 large handful baby spinach
1 banana
1 large handful blackberries
1 cup festival blend frozen fruit
1/2 scoop Green Superfood
1 honey stick
1 scoop chia seeds
1/2 Kirkland’s coconut water

Directions
Blend all ingredients, and enjoy!

This smoothie does NOT have a pretty color to it, so it may be for the best that I forgot to snap a pic.

Monday was a great day! I had a meeting first thing at our South Tampa office; it was over breakfast so I opted to skip juice.

I intended to eat the sweet potato and clementines I brought for lunch, but at the last minute decided I wanted to get away from my desk. I took myself on a nice solo date to Red Elephant Cafe. The only thing that would have made it nicer is if I had brought some reading material or if my phone had more than 20% battery life. Nonetheless, my Rebecca’s Salad hit the spot! I will definitely order this again.

After a late afternoon meeting in our St. Pete office, I fought traffic to quickly get home because the Boy and I had big plans for date night. Whoo! I love date night!

Date Night began with his and hers chicken Caesar salads at Costco. We then picked up some produce for juicing and fruit lunches. And, the highlight of the evening was Cinderella!

Neither one of us is a big fan of the overpriced, crowded movie theatre scene, but I really really wanted to see Cinderella. For having just opened, it was dead in the theatre, but that’s what you get (or should get) at 9:00 on a Monday.

2015/03/img_3802-0.jpg

This movie was fun, beautiful, and magical. Even though Cinderella likes to steal my thunder (I’m Princess Belle, didn’t you know that?!), she does have a beautiful love story.

2015/03/img_0323-0.jpg

This is gonna sound bad, but I don’t recall ever seeing the classic Cinderella. I know the gist of the story, but watching this movie made me realize just how much I have missed from not seeing it. Growing up, I watched a lot of movies…or so I thought I did. I may have just been watching the same movies over and over again… Beauty and the Beast, 101 Dalmatians, Aladdin, and probably at least 2 or 3 more. I don’t, however, recall ever seeing the other classic princess stories… Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White; or even Bambi or Peter Pan for that matter.

For someone who is as obsessed with Disney as I am, this is just not acceptable. I think I need to have a talk with my parents.

Any who, I thought Lily James did a fantastic job in the role; she really brought a lot of passion and heart to the role. I can’t wait to see the live action Beauty and the Beast now!
