Where did that speed come from?!

Good morning and happy Thursday!

Thursday?! Already?! Seriously, where did the week go?

I have been having a GREAT week, both at work and with my training. I slacked off a bit last week, but felt rejuvenated coming into this week, and I think it shows.

Unfortunately my bestest little running buddy has been dealing with an ankle/calf issue that has hindered her training a bit this week.

Last night she felt good, so hoping that continues to be the case.

Tuesday night’s tempo session was interesting to say the least. I don’t know what happened, but I was on fire. I was FLYING (for me).

And even more exciting… I was able to carry on a conversation the entire time, I did NOT walk, and my legs could still function the next day. 😉
Check out these splits!

After my lightning fast tempo session (hey, it’s my blog, if I wanna be The Flash, I’m gonna be The Flash) and my crazy hectic (read: up and about) work day, I was nervous coming into the Fun Run yesterday.

I did a 2 mile warmup and for the life of me could not get myself to slow down that first mile. It felt like I was barely trudging along, but my pace was crazy for a warmup. I was finally able to reign it in for the second mile.

After a short break, it was Fun Run time! Mandy made it out and was able to run all three miles. Yay!!! We took it nice and easy though.

I’ve been making sure to get in lots of foam rolling, but need to get better about icing my knees.
Question of the day

How has your training been going?

Merry Christmas and some awesome speedwork training

Good morning and happy Friday!

And…Merry Christmas!

We’ll be going over to my parents house to spend the holiday with them. My baby sister flew in Wednesday and will be here for the next week and a half. So excited to spend time with her!

My family came out for the Ugly Sweater Fun Run on Wednesday. And, even dad was feeling a bit festive.

I still don’t understand it, but Florida has yet to get the memo that it is December and Santa does not like to travel where it is warm.

It was a HOT run!

I spent my Christmas Eve finishing up some last minute shopping, and then met some of the training group out at Fit2Run for speedwork.

Our normal speedwork session was cancelled because the mall was closing early, but Coach Kirsten still wanted everyone to get in their mile repeats.

She’s out of town for the holiday, but I think she’ll be proud of our dedication. Coach Greg was nice enough to volunteer his time to run with us.

It was a lot of fun! But, boy was it hot. I had 2 x 1 mile repeats on the schedule. Last month I crushed my goals, and was hoping to do that once again.

And, I did. My first mile was 8:51, and my second was 9:06. Boom! It was humid, and muggy, and all-around hot, but it felt good. I didn’t know I could run a mile in under 9 minutes! Love seeing little bits of improvement.

I then spent some much needed time with my foam roller.

I hope you all have a great holiday weekend!

Question of the day

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

Mid-ish week update in PICS

Good morning and happy Thursday!

Great, great, great day yesterday!

I finally wrapped up a big work project that had been wracking my brain for the last two weeks.

And, the rest of my day included…
Salad! Salad just never gets old. I mean literally it does, but you know what I’m saying…

A hardworking pooch. It’s a tough job being a puppy!

I made it on the board! Granted, everyone does, but it was just so exciting to see…

Fun Run at Fit2Run!

Kayla even came out (pictured here with Nancy)! She brought her two young boys and husband, and they all had so much fun they want to make it a weekly thing! Yay!!

On a side note, I did the full 5k and finally feel like I’m starting to get back to normal. I definitely need to foam roll more, but I was pleased with my performance.

On the way home, this car had me questioning, “seriously?!” 😉

My day also consisted of an exciting trip to both Target and Kohl’s. So exciting, I snapped zero pics! 😉

Question of the day

What did your Wednesday run consist of?
